Award-Winning Architecture: "MARIANNA HOUSE"

Marianna House, Hastrings-on-Hudson, NY

Located in Hastings-on-Hudson, the Marianna House is much more than a renovation—it’s a masterclass in texture and intentionality. As the very first project for the team at Arketekcher Architecture DPC, the stakes were high. It’s been wonderful to see their hard work recognized with a 2025 AIA Westchester + Hudson Valley Design Award.

The design centers on a thoughtful 300-square-foot addition and a full interior reimagining. For me, the material palette was the star of the show. There is something so striking about the deep, charred tones of the Shou Sugi Ban wood sitting right next to crisp stucco and that sleek metal seam roof.

Even on a quiet, overcast day, the house has a real presence. One of our main goals for the shoot was to capture that "effortless" transition between the indoors and out. With the panoramic doors open, the kitchen flows right out onto the deck, framed by mature gardens and a beautiful New York Green Roof installation. It’s the kind of space that feels connected to nature, no matter the weather.

It was such a privilege to work alongside the Arketekcher team and the homeowners, Jason and Muriel Poure. A project of this caliber is truly a group effort, and it was great to see the work of consultants like Neon Labs, Aspect 120, and Integral Engineering all come together so seamlessly.

A huge congratulations to Arketekcher on their well-deserved AIA win. I’m honored to have been there to document such a pivotal milestone in their firm’s history!
